“The Brisbane Writers Festival first began in the 1960s as Warana Writers Weekend, an event aimed at writers held as a part of the Warana Festival. In 1985 the event was expanded to include public events and became Warana Writers Week. With the focus on attracting the general public, it shifted to South Bank and also utilized a number of city venues. Laurie Muller from the University of Queensland Press (UQP) chaired the voluntary committee for about nine years and was followed by notable Queensland writers and academics including Ross Clarke, Sue Gough, and Philip Neilsen.”

Parker’s companies of talented dancers explore different personality types and how they respond to happiness.
